The 2016-2017 Gala Committee is off to a running start unveiling the theme & logo for our annual event!! "Run for the Roses" will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017. More detail to come!
During the Summer, the children enjoyed the in-house field trips we had that pertained to our theme of "All Creatures Great & Small". We had visits from the Houston Museum of Natural Science (3 times with different themes) and Sweetie Pies Petting Zoo.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar in real life! Toddler 2 had some very hungry visitors last week, Monarch caterpillars! The children helped Christa prepare the butterfly habitat by gathering Milkweed. The big fat caterpillars weren't hard to find in the school's garden. Once the caterpillars were feeling at home in the habitat, they made their way to top to form their chrysalis. Then the waiting game started. Soon the chrysalis became transparent and the Monarch's wings were visible. You can imagine the excitement when the butterflies emerged! Christa was able to hold one so the children could get a closer look. This is what life science looks like in a Montessori classroom.
The early results are in and the Gala raised nearly $45,000 for our school. This money will be used for operating costs and special programs for the students. Hats off to the Gala Committee and all the volunteers that made this event so special. And thanks to all who attended!
