Summer Programs

Each summer, the curriculum in both the Toddler and Early Childhood communities is based on a common theme, and the summer is divided into three sessions. Past summer program themes have included Under the Sea, All Creatures Great and Small, Around the World, Farm to Market, and Space Exploration.

We are excited to spend Summer 2019 learning all about DINOSAURS! The summer session dates for 2019 are: June 3-21, June 24-28 & July 8-19, and July 22-August 9. In addition to exploring the world of dinosaurs, we look forward to weekly splash days and visits from community groups such as HMNS, Moody Gardens, and Jean Kuecher’s Marionette Playhouse.

2019 Gala and Fundraiser: Flower Power

The 2019 SAES Gala and Fundraiser was held on Saturday, January 26 at Buchanan’s in the Heights. Guests at the groovy, 70s-themed party enjoyed delicious food and drinks, dancing, a costume contest, and both silent and live auctions. Special thanks go out to our co-chairs Julia Banda and Heather Buchanan, along with the entire Gala Committee and everyone else who helped make the event a success!

Prelude Music Concert

We are very fortunate to have the Music Together® Program as part of our curriculum at SAES. Twice a year, we invite our community families to join us on the weekend for a special concert at school. Our music teacher, Heidi Kaim, leads the children (and their parents!) in a sing-along that includes songs the kids know from their weekly music classes at school. The concert is BYOI (bring-your-own-instruments) and is always a fun event!

Houston Fire Department Visit

In October of 2018, as part of Fire Prevention Awareness Month, we enjoyed our annual visit from Houston Fire Department Station 15. The children always look forward to this event, where they get to meet the firefighters, learn about fire safety, and explore the fire truck and equipment.

Blessing of the Animals

On October 7, 2018, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church held its annual Blessing of the Animals. Dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, and even stuffed animals were blessed by the Reverend Jimmy Grace. Attendees were entertained with great food, live music, children’s activities, and a visit from HPD Mounted Patrol. Donations of unopened pet food were collected to benefit AniMeals on Wheels, which helps seniors feed their beloved companions.
